Beer Tasting in Athens

Time flies when you’re having fun! Even though I have lived in Athens for over two years, Lance and I rarely go out anymore when he comes to visit. Now that we have Finn, we feel guilty leaving him for long periods of time while we go out. We are also dealing with a lack of finances that prevents us from spending as much money as we once could during a single weekend. This weekend turned out to be an exception however when we went out and about with friends two nights in a row!
On Friday, after Lance arrived, we picked up my friend Anna Chestnutwood and headed downtown to one of our favorite restaurants called Speakeasy. It’s a tiny little upstairs restaurant located directly in downtown Athens. Instead of serving full entrees, they have tapas such as crab cakes, spinach dip, and bruschetta. We spent the evening sipping on blackberry margaritas, catching up with old friends and taking silly pictures. It was so fun to just relax and hang out with friends!
The next night we were invited to go with more old Tifton friends (Tripp, Cassie, Meg, and Mark) to a beer brewery in Athens. Terrapin is a locally brewed beer here in Athens. It only cost $8 per person and that includes eight tickets to be turned in for beer and a Terrapin glass you get to test the beer in and then take home. They do this every Thrusday, Friday, and Saturday night, they have live bands outside, and do tours of the factory. There was also an adorable little boy outside putting fake tattoos on people for tips! It was just a fun and different way to spend a Saturday night in Athens instead of going to a crowded bar and waiting in line.
Anyone who knows Lance and I can vouch that this weekend was jam packed with activity! We also managed to take Finn for an outing in his favorite location, the intramural fields on campus! I’m so glad that spring is finally here and it brought pleasant warm weather with it! Happy weekend to everyone!

Happy Birthday Lance!

Today this adorable young man turned twenty-seven. He's growing up so fast (Lance that is, not Finn)! Just don't remind him that he'll be thirty in three years (he's a little sensative about getting older, or just about me reminding him how old is about to be)! This is a big year for Lance. Not only is he graduating from Darton, he will also be starting his new career in less than two months! I only wish his birthday was not in the middle of the week, or that we lived closer so I could celebrate with him on his actual birthday! Even so, I'm so proud of Lance and all that he has accomplished this last year! Isn't that the cutest little puppy his sweet girlfriend got for his birthday! What a lucky guy!

Bon Voyage Mom and Sonny!

About a year and a half ago, Sonny flew to Israel on business. He went to Bethlehem and Jerusalem and brought back the most beautiful nativity scenes. A larger musical one for Mom and two slightly smaller ones for Lauren and I. He also bought handmade Christmas tree ornaments and gold cross necklaces for us.
Once again, Sonny got the offer to travel to Israel on business and this time Mom would not let him go alone. They will be leaving tomorrow morning and taking the extremely long flight to Israel. Not only is this an exciting trip because of the distance, but also because Mom has never flown out of the country before. Previous to this she has only gone to Mexico when Lauren was a baby and they lived in Texas.
It seems that I’ve caught the travel bug as well. I have recently decided that I want to go to England. After I graduate and spend a year saving my money, Mom and I are going to tour the country side of England! One year from now, I could be packing my bags and getting ready to embark on my own adventure!
Bye Mom and Sonny! Have a wonderful trip, be careful, and bring me back lots of presents!

The Whirlwind of Twilight

My name is Anna and I am addicted to the Twilight series. Around Christmas time I borrowed a book from Lauren that was causing a frenzy with young girls everywhere. I barely knew anything about the book; honestly I opened it around Christmas, read a couple of pages and merely forgot about it for three months. It was not until last week that I decided to give it another try. I opened the book around 10 last Thursday night and forced myself to shut it around 1. I then proceeded to toss and turn for another 2 hours while contemplating reopening the book and staying up all night to finish it. I had a midterm first thing the next morning which I felt was logically more important than a fictitious book about vampires and romance. It sounds strange to fall in love with a book about vampires, but let me reassure any doubters out there, it’s completely addictive and such a fast read! I drove to Tifton that day and all the way I was itching to pull over and finish the book.

Being an English major affords me very little time for pleasure reading and let’s face it, when taking an entire class on Jane Austen, who needs pleasure reading? I finished the first and second book (both over 500 pages) in about 5 days. I’m trying so hard to not read the third book (which I’ve already purchased) because I have so much reading to finish before going back to school next week!

The movie comes out on DVD the 21st of March and I already have plans to buy it before I’ve even seen it!

Thanks Lauren for letting me borrow the book that started the madness. I’ve bought the next two and you’re welcome to borrow them.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy 55th Birthday Daddy! Just remember, it isn't how old you are, it's how old you feel! Love you!

Snow Day

March came in like a lion! After months of cold and frigid weather, a blizzard came to Georgia and at the worst possible time! In one week, the University of Georgia goes on Spring Break! The only good news, is that the temperature is supposed to go back up to the 70s over the weekend! What crazy weather!
